Zusammenfassung:Der "Automobilismus" stellt ein bedeutsames kulturelles Integrationsmuster der Moderne dar, das den Besitz und die Nutzung von Automobilen als Voraussetzung für die individuelle Autonomie betrachtet. In der vorliegenden Studie wird die alltagskulturelle Bedeutung des Automobils am Beispiel von Musikvideos untersucht. Musikvideos kennzeichnen einen wesentlichen Bestandteil der Alltagskultur von Jugendlichen, die durch ihre visuellen und musikalischen Darstellungsformen die Bewertung von Alltagsmobilität und von unterschiedlichen Verkehrsträgern beeinflussen. Auf der Grundlage einer quantitativen Inhaltsanalyse von 423 Musikvideos wird überprüft, ob mobilitätsbezogene Inhalte auffallend häufig in Musikvideos dargestellt werden und welche visuellen und musikalischen Darstellungsformen hierfür verwendet worden sind. Weiterhin sind die Musikvideos danach bewertet worden, inwieweit in ihnen eine Verknüpfung der Automobilität mit den symbolischen Dimensionen der Mobilität - Autonomie, Erlebnis, Status und Privatheit - stattfindet. Durch die Inhaltsanalyse konnte bestätigt werden, dass Formen der individuellen Mobilität auffallend häufig in Musikvideos präsentiert werden (52,2%). In diesen Videos zeigt sich eine starke Dominanz des Automobils als Verkehrsmittel (68,8%). Am häufigsten wird die Darstellung der Automobilnutzung mit den symbolischen Dimensionen Erlebnis und Status assoziiert.

Abstract:The "automobilism" indicates an important mechanism of cultural integration in modern societies, which describes the association with individual autonomy and the use of automobiles. The present study investigates the role of automobiles in music video clips. For young persons music videos are an important element of their cultural practice. In music videos personal mobility behavior and different means of transport are evaluated through the forms of visual and musical presentation. On the basis of a quantitative content analysis with 423 music videos is proved, how often mobility orientated contents are presented in these video clips and which visual and musical forms of presentation are used. Further the music videos are evaluated, if they transport an association with automobilism and the symbolic dimensions of mobility: autonomy, experience, status and privacy. The results of the content analysis confirm that individual mobility is presented remarkably frequent in the music videos (52,2%). The automobile is the dominant means of transport in these videos (68,8%). The use of automobiles is most frequently associated with the symbolic dimensions experience and status.
