| Zusammenfassung: | Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird über die Entwicklung und den Stand der Implementierung eines kommunalen Nachhaltigkeits-Informationssystems in zwei ostdeutschen Großstädten berichtet. Das Informationssystem soll in Kommunalpolitik und -verwaltung zur Information und als Orientierungshilfe für strategische Entscheidungen dienen. Nach einer Annäherung an den Begriff der Nachhaltigkeit wird die Vorgehensweise bei der Entwicklung des Systems beschrieben: Ausgehend vom Integrativen Nachhaltigkeitskonzept (Coenen & Grunwald, 2003; Kopfmüller et al., 2001) wurden in enger Zusammenarbeit mit Verwaltungsmitarbeitern Bezüge zwischen zuvor identifizierten Problemfeldern der Städte und Nachhaltigkeitsregeln hergestellt. Für jedes Problemfeld wurden messbare Indikatoren für Nachhaltigkeit bestimmt, die im nächsten Schritt mit Daten hinterlegt und in eine Datenbank eingespeist wurden. Derzeit findet der Implementierungsprozess statt; bisher aufgetretene Schwierigkeiten sowie Erfolge werden berichtet. In einem vorläufigen Fazit werden Voraussetzungen benannt, die für eine erfolgreiche Implementierung eines kommunalen Nachhaltigkeits-Informationssystems erfüllt sein müssen. |

| Abstract: | The article at hand reports on the development and the status quo of implementation of a municipal information system on sustainability in two East German cities. The information system aims at providing municipal policymakers and staff with information and helping them on strategic decision making. After highlighting the concept of sustainability, the procedure of implementation of the system is described. Using the Integrative Concept of Sustainable Development (Coenen & Grunwald, 2003; Kopfmüller et al., 2001), previously identified problems of both cities were linked to sustainability rules in close cooperation with local authority officers. For each problem, measurable indicators for sustainability were identified and fed into a database. The implementation of the system is in process right now; difficulties and achievements are reported. In the preliminary conclusion preconditions necessary for a successful implementation of a municipal information system on sustainability are mentioned. |
